I was saddened by the news last night of President Gordon B. Hinckley's passing.
He was the prophet of our church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
A spirited, funny, hardworking and very spiritual man who will be missed by so many.
I was touched too, that a group of kids at Spencer's school sent out a text last night inviting everyone who wanted to participate in honoring him, to wear their Sunday clothes to school. So Spencer went to school in a shirt and tie. I figure that you've got to be a pretty amazing person if teenagers are willing to wear church clothes to school in your honor.
President Hinckley's son, Clark, is our Stake President so President Hinckley would often come to our Stake Conferences, which is a regional meeting held twice a year. When my friend Alice was dying, President Hinckley happened to be at our stake conference and followed Alice's family home after the meeting and visited with them and comforted them.
I will miss this great leader...this great man.
