On Friday, I met up with Layle at the Antiques Expo.
I found several things...cameras, a seltzer bottle from NYC, some vintage books (classics) for Ski...but my best find was this old dentist's workbench.
The drawers are really neat with a big bin on the bottom and several tool drawers up above. It has 12 drawers, a cabinet and a couple of pull out trays.
On Saturday, McKean had his 15th birthday party.
He planned this all by himself - including the games and prizes.
I was just the wallet and the transportation to pick up stuff.
They started off with croquet and ping pong.
Then moved onto bobbing for apples, the limbo and jumping over the limbo stick. The girls were much more flexible and easily won the limbo whereas the boys could jump much higher...maybe because their jeans weren't so tight. :o)
Then came the balloon race and cupcake decorating contest.
These are the ones that Mick and Samantha (the two artists) did.
Mick did a great job of hosting the party which included his friends from school and his friends from the neighborhood. THis is a shot I got of his school friends.
ALL the proceeds are being donated by 2 Peas to the fund.
A special thanks to Rhonna and Cherie who did the majority of the designing and put the kit together. There are so many additional pieces to this kit that aren't even show. It's truly a HUGE kit!
To find out more about how Stephanie and her husband are doing, check out her sister, Jane's blog.
Here is a layout, of my sweet sister-in-law Rachel with her 1st grandbaby...Sage, that I did using the kit. The only things that aren't in the kit are the swirl - that is from Rhonna's V8 Swirl kit and the staples.
The layout is a scraplift of the very talented Jaime Warren's Precious Baby layout.
I received an email this week from both Kim and Rhonna about Stephanie and Christian Nielson (click on about Nie to read their story) who were in a plane crash recently and both of them severely burned. Christian was burned over 30% of his boday and Stephanie over 80%. They have four small adorable children.
When I read this story, I felt so helpless. But reading their story moved Kim and Rhonna into action. Kim is hosting a silent auction on her blog, Today's Creative Blog. And Rhonna and some of the rest of us are working on a digital kit for 2 Peas where the proceeds will go to help pay for some of the Nielson's hospital costs. (you can also donate directly here.)
It's amazing how dramatically your life can change in just a split second. Today's a good day to hug loved ones...just a little longer.
I did, but I'm still recovering from it...obviously because it's Tuesday and I'm finally getting around to posting something.
We went up to the Zermatt Resort in Midway for Mike's annual Partner Retreat.
They always treat us so well...both the resort and his firm.
We had activities that we could choose from for both Friday and Saturday.
There was a helicopter ride, a hot-air balloon ride, ATV's, mountain biking, golf and also massages, pedicures and facials from their world-class spa.
Well...I've been in a helicopter many times and up in hot-air balloons several times too, so it was pretty much a no-brainer for me. Give me a massage, please...and a pedicure and I'll be a happy woman!
My masseuse introduced himself as "Clint" as in "Eastwood." And he did make my day! :o)
It was a superb massage and my pedicure was likewise...SUPERB!
They fed us well, the beds had down comforters and it's always fun to catch up with all the wives, most of whom I only see twice a year.
